Martia, a chameloid prisoner on Klingon penal colony,
Rura Penthe. Martia above, appearing as she primarily did, was played by Iman. In the script for Star Trek VI, this appearance was described thus; "She's a tall and very good looking female, boots to her thighs, exotic furs, tattered but clearly humanoid." .
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country The Enterprise is
caught in a tangled web while on a diplomatic mission, as escort for the Klingon framers of a new alliance between The Empire and Earth.
The first night with the Chancellor is highlighted by a formal dinner aboard the Enterprise and conversation comparing Shakespeare in Klingon and English. The bard is quoted to the end, even as the delegation beams over to their ship. Back on the bird of prey, Kronos One is attacked immediately. A treacherous assassination
attempt succeeds, claiming the life of the Chancellor and several others. Kirk and Dr. McCoy beam over to offer
help but they are charged and arrested. The fast lane trial lands Kirk and Bones in the worst wrong place in the Klingon empire. No one has ever escaped the mines, but hope appears in the form of a Klingon chameloid
from Arc, Martia, doing life for practicing an ancestral trade of her race - smuggling. She has an ace up her sleeve.

Cat
People (1942)
Critical view of Cat People
1942 suspense-thriller directed by
Jacques
Tourneur. Written by DeWitt Bodeen. Running time:

BY ROGER EBERT
/ March 12, 2006
Lewton may have found his overall approach by happenstance in "Cat
People," which began as a without a story and developed its minimalist style as a result of the low budget. But he and Tourneur had found a note that worked, and in various ways Lewton
found it again in such films as "I Walked with a Zombie" (1943), "The Leopard Man" (1943), "The Curse of the Cat People" (1944) and "The Body Snatcher" (1945). He made "movies that are often more like symbolist
poems or obscure fetishistic rituals," wrote Geoffrey O'Brien in the New York Review of Books. "They are not so much frightening as unnervingly strange and shot through with a palpable melancholy."
Do the movies still work today, or are they too quiet? Depends on your tastes. Paul Schrader made a much more specific version of "Cat People" in 1982, which I admired for its own qualities, including the use of atmospheric New Orleans locations. But the 1942 movie gets under your skin. There is something subtly alarming about the oddly mannered good-girl behavior of Simone Simon, and the unearthly detachment of Kent Smith as her husband, and the rooms and streets that look not like places but like ideas of places. And something touching about Irena, who has never had a friend, and fears she will kill the only person she loves, and is told she is insane. At the end, Oliver pays her a simple tribute: "She never lied to us."

White Panther since 40
A.D.
-
The panther is an
animal which in its relation to heraldry it is difficult to know whether to place amongst the mythical or actual animals. No instance occurs to me in which the panther figures as a charge in British heraldry, and the panther is a supporter, in the few cases in which it is met with, is certainly not the actual animal, inasmuch as it is invariable found flammant, i.e. with flames issuing from the mouth and ears. In this character it will be found as a supporter of
the Duke of Beaufort, and derived therefrom as a supporter of Lord Raglan. Foreign heraldry carries the panther to a most curious result. It is frequently represented with the tail of a lion, horns, and for its fore-legs the claws of an eagle. Even in England it is usually represented vomiting flames, but the usual method of depicting it on the Continent is greatly at variance with our own the arms of Styria Vert, a panther argent, armed close, vomiting flames of fire, from the title-page of the Land-bond of Styria (1523, drawn by Hans Burgkmair). In Physiologus, a Greek writing of early Christian times of about the date 140 AD mention is made of the panther, to which is there ascribed the gaily spotted coat and the pleasant, sweet-smelling breath which induces all other
animals to approach it; the dragon along retreats into its hole from the smell, and consequently the panther appears to have sometimes been used as a symbol of Christ.

FONT face=Arial color=#c0c0c0 size=2>According to Wikipedia there is a degree of controversy
regarding the selected greasepaint for The Twins because some feel there is a stereotypical view of albinism in the film. This is not likely.
The Wachowski brothers introduce The Twins to represent the lower octave
program with supervisory tasks during a decomposition process [as I read them.] These parts of the total person, intimately linked with our return to "dust", point to management cover as atomic material drifts [with or without memory or referral tendency.] Those at thislevel of corruption appear white regardless of race, time zone, or philosophical inclination.

The Wachowskis follow the path of the white rabbit [Alice's Adventures in Wonderland] themes through the
Matrix trilogy, leading us into the mystery world under the surface.
Common misunderstandings regarding interpretation of ancient religious [funerary] art Black figures often represent attributes of the source of fertility, or linked to it. Immortals with a black or green tint, or cast, such as Osiris, God of Vegetation, the Green Man, [Green Knight], and Green Tara are symbols of higher octave forces. The power is positive, transcendent, and considered a source of life in many faiths. see
Seraph in The Matrix Trilogy
The white figure suggests three stages in the post-incarnate status. First, white for recycle processes so lower, finite material may be redistributed. Second, the stage of the journey as the return to natural status is underway. Third, attainment of maxima once the higher octave soul powers have been reacquired. The rule is that colour of skin in the sacred art form is not intended to indicate status of a material world incarnation, as it is a work in progress.
Skin tone is actually a cosmetic feature, since each type of skin in our modern era is composed of approximately 250 colours, when viewed under a microscope. Colour profession diversity is based on the many colours found in each individual palette, with a minimum of several key colours taken from the eyes.

WITCHES AND

DR. STRANGE
Not content with simply casting spells or causing transformations, Dr. Strange was forever journeying into weird worlds and uncanny dimensions. His environment was perhaps the most unusual in comic books.
Dr. Strange is a part of The Marvel Universe, but he had always inhabited his own universe as well. The Sorcerer Supreme of the Earth, a master of white magic, has experienced many memorable adventures in eerie dimensions that other heroes can only imagine. Yet if Dr. Strange has always been a bit aloof, his journeys into the unknown have served to expand the scope of the comic book landscape for every character who followed in his wake.
Introduced in 1963 by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, Dr. Strange was very much a product of his time. The lure of mysticism was strong in the 1960s as a rebellious younger generation forged a counterculture that spurned materialism in favor of more spiritual values. Dr. Strange has an affinity with bohemian attitudes, evident even in his address: residence located at Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village, New York.
Originally a self centered surgeon, Dr. Strange lost his delicate touch after an automobile accident, and became a wandering derelict. In the Himalayas he sought out a fabled healer called The Ancient One, who ended up repairing the soul of Stephen Strange, instead of his hands. Redeemed from worldliness, the reborn hero also tacitly acknowledged the value of a race and culture other than his own, studying with the old master until he was ready to become a guardian protecting humanity from the intrusion of evil. He encountered wicked wizards, and also abstract entities like Nightmare and Eternity. In each battle his weapon was knowledge rather than force.
Despite its influence, the initial Dr. Strange solo series did not outlast the 1960s. Yet he hung on in sporadic appearances for almost two decades until he was given his own comic book again in 1988. This full fledged revival may have been tied in to the popularity of New Age occultism, or perhaps to a reaction against a decade devoted to acquisitiveness. In any case, spiritual longings are perennial. Even for those who sometimes find institutionalized religion repressive, a fascination with the supernatural remains.

The Patronus Charm - faq
from the pen of J.K. Rowling
So how DO the members of the Order of the Phoenix communicate with each other?
... Members of the Order use their Patronuses to communicate with each other. They are the only wizards who know how to use their spirit guardians in this way and they have been taught to do so by Dumbledore (he invented this method of communication). The Patronus is an immensely efficient messenger for several reasons: it is an anti-Dark Arts device, which makes it highly resilient to interference from Dark wizards. It is not hindered by physical barriers; each Patronus is unique and distinctive, so that there is never any doubt which Order member has sent it.
Nobody else can conjure the Patronus of another person, so there is no danger of false messages being passed between Order members. Nothing conspicuous needs to be carried by the Order member to create a Patronus.
And, as many of you have deduced, Professor Albus Dumbledore could be expected to have a phoenix as his Patronus.
"The ability to produce a Patronus demonstrates an advanced level of magic not routinely taught to young Hogwarts students (hence the surprise of the prospective members of Dumbledores Army when they find out that Harry can make a Patronus)."

In "Philosopher's Stone" Aunt Petunia says that Lily came back from Hogwarts with frog spawn in her pockets and turned teacups into rats. If this is true, why wasn't Lily expelled?
JKR: Aunt Petunia is exaggerating a little; you have to allow for her state of mind when she started shrieking these things. However, just like her son, Lily was not averse to testing the limits of the Statute of Secrecy, so you can safely assume she will have had a few warning letters, nothing too serious, though.

Jacques Sadoul reports the following story in his book on alchemy, as follows:
The Cosmopolite [himself] had gone to Germany, where he was careful to preserve his anonymity by using a variety of aliases. He stayed for a few days at Frankfort-on-the-Main, where he made friends with a businessman named Koch, who later wrote to Theobald de Hogelande, the historian, telling him that he had had the opportunity of watching the Cosmopolite carrying out a transmutation, and that he had kept a piece of the resultant gold:
For some time an adept had been living at Offenbach [near Frankfort] and had often bought things from me in the name of a French Count. Before leaving here, he wished to show me the art of transmuting metals. He did not put a hand to the work himself, but allowed me to do everything. He gave me a reddish-grey powder, weighing about three grains. I dropped it into two half-ounces of quicksilver in a crucible.
Then I filled the crucible about half way up with potash, and we put it over a gentle heat. After this I filled the furnace with charcoal, so that the crucible was entirely embedded in a very hot fire; I left it there for about half an hour.
When the crucible was red hot, he told me to throw a little piece of yellow wax
into it. A few minutes later, I cooled the crucible and broke it open.
At the bottom, I found a small piece of gold that weighed fifty-four
ounces three grains. It was melted in my presence and submitted to an
assay; twenty-three carats fifteen grains of gold resulted, together
with six of silver both of an exceptionally brilliant colour. I had
a stud made for my shirt with part of the gold. I looks to me as
though mercury were not essential to the operation.
TARA
Taras often feature seven all-seeing eyes of compassion (three in the forehead, one in each palm and foot sole).
White Tara, the mild form of the goddess, promises health, long life and prosperity. Green Tara, her foot outstretched to meet supplicants, is protectress in practical matters, and engenders growth. Black and Red Taras are fiercer guises.
The deity may use suffering to foster the devotee's healing and
courage. But even in Her wrathful aspect, Tara's role is to dispel the
fear of death and foster the evolution of compassion.
