2 Major Arcana linked with the Robin Hood theme, the Green Man and the Green Woman, Robin and Marian from The Wild Wood Tarot, by Mark Ryan and John Matthews
Mark Ryan writes in his introduction to this deck, The Wildwood Tarot is a journey,
not a hierarchy, and to this end we have, where fitting, made the human aspects in the
Major Arcana androgynous so as not to deny anyone access to these archetypes.
Since there are men with feminine qualities and women with masculine ones, it
seemed unwise to narrow these parameters by trying to git them into our modern
concept of gender. Above, The Forest Lovers image of Robin Hood and Maid Marian,
and The Green Man, who stands with The Green Woman at the Midsummer Solstice.

Douglas Fairbanks was one of the owner-founders of United Artists, formed in 1919 with partners Mary Pickford, Charles Chaplin, and D.W. Griffith. He was one of the first and greatest of the swashbuckling heroes of the silver screen whose astounding feats of daring-do have been imitated but never equaled. Fairbanks rose to the occasion and took the most active part of the affairs of the company. In the mid-Twenties, he enticed Joseph. M. Schenck to head the administrative affairs of the corporation, bringing with him Norma and Constance Talmadge, who were quickly followed by Gloria Swanson, John Barrymore, and Buster Keaton.

Robin Hood was released by United Artists in 1922 when Fairbanks was at the height of his career. His matchless coordination and exceptionally fast reflexes provided wonderful entertainment as he roamed through the English countryside taking from the rich and giving to the poor.

Two great swashbucklers seldom seen together, Fairbanks made Robin Hood in 1922. He and his
colleagues formed United Artists Corporation to distribute their own productions. in part
as a response to rumors about consolidation of major producers heard through the grapevine.
In order to avoid the material copyrighted by Douglas Fairbanks Sr. for his 1922 Robin Hood, the scripters of this Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland version relied on several legendary episodes that had never before been filmed, notably the battle between Robin and Little John, played by Alan Hale Sr., and the piggy-back episode between Robin and Friar Tuck, played by Eugene Pallette.
The film ties together the various ancient anecdotes with a storyline bounded by the capture in Austria of Richard the Lionheart played by Ian Hunter, on one end and the king as he triumphantly returns to England on the other. Robin Hood is already an outlaw at the outset of the film, while Maid Marian is initially part of the enemy camp in the entourage of Prince John, played by Claude Rains. Marian warms up to the fight Robin wages against injustice and to Robin himself, eventually becoming a trusted ally. James Cagney was originally announced for the role of Robin Hood, just before Cagney left Warner Bros. in a salary dispute. William Keighley was the original director, but he worked too slowly to suit the tight production schedule and was replaced by Michael Curtiz

Errol Flynn was born Sun 27 Gemini 43 and Luna 18 Moonchild 47, with an Aries 25 Ascendant, and his powerful 1 degree Aquarian Midheaven, symbolized as the eye of the Eagle. His
radix Mars is deposited in Pisces in opposition to Jupiter 7 Virgo 55 in the fifth house of early education, amusement, pleasure, the heart desire, theatre, archeology, strategy, and competitive sports that effectively converted his renown athletic agility to the screen.
The role of Robin Hood is considered, by many, his best performance on the silver screen. One of the great swashbucklers. Flynn came across perfectly in his first film as Captain Blood, and some critics consider Blood his best screen performance. It should be mentioned that Olivia de Havilland was also his leading lady in Captain Blood. They were the perfect couple on screen. Another encore appearance with Basil Rathbone, a rival pirate captain in Captain Blood, thrilled audiences when Robin was forced to fight a duel to the death with Rathbone as Guy of Gisbourne.

Robin of Sherwood 1984 introduction
Robin and Marian opened to glowing reviews, with one critic calling the pairing of Hepburn and Connery like silk and chain mail. Frank Thompson in American Film wrote that the film is a sad and satisfying hymn to heroism, myth and lost youth. Marian is the heart of the film; for once, neither fragile nor innocent. Her performance has steel in it, and a touch of madness.
